healthy packaged snacks - healthy snacks, healthy food

There are many healthy packaged snacks that you can use to supplement your lean workout.

Most of the food in our Mission Lean recipes doesn’t come in a package. Here is a list of some of our favorite healthy packaged snacks that actually do come in packages.. many of which you can buy online.

  1.     Lundberg Organic Brown Rice Cakes – $2.99 (varies), Thrive Market or Trader Joes

This is a healthy packaged snack that is delicious and you can eat on the go or add to your meal to feel more full. Spread some avocado on it and it’s just as good as Avocado Toast (but it’s gluten free!) There are only 2 ingredients – rice and salt, no added preservatives or oils. A great, clean snack you can bring with you and eat anywhere.

  1.     Frozen Organic Cherries – $3.49( varies), Trader Joe’s

Cherries are a treat and these can be stored in your freezer and eaten year round. This healthy packaged snack is low in sugar and calories (lower than other fruit) but high in nutrition content! Cherries are usually VERY expensive (I’ve seen as much as $9.99/lb) so this is a great budget alternative to fresh cherries. Plus, you’re guaranteed that these are perfectly sweet and ready to eat every time. Let them thaw a bit before you eat them to get the most flavor.

  1.     Applegate Organic Smoked Turkey Breast – $6.99, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s and almost every other grocery store

This is just about as healthy a version of processed deli meat as you’re going to get. Applegate is a reputable brand and should be included in your bag of healthy packaged snacks.  They don’t treat their meats with hormones or antibiotics. If you’re in a rush, it’s easy to make sandwiches with turkey, avocado, rye bread, and some veggies.

  1.     Mestemacher Organic Rye Bread – $3.99 Amazon

This german brick bread is delicious when toasted and is an amazing healthy packaged snack that you can eat alone, or as a small sandwich with Smoked Turkey Breast and avocado.

It’s more nutritious than regular bread which is more processed and contains tons of preservatives. You can add avocado, fresh fruit, dried fruit or jam and eat it for breakfast or lunch (make a sandwich!)

  1.     Green & Black’s Dark Chocolate 85% Organic Bar , $3.39 Vitacost

Dark chocolate is good for your heart, your brain, and your mood. This healthy packaged snack is non-dairy and because of it’s high chocolate and cocoa content, it also has less sugar. Eat this for a guilty-free dessert.

  1.     Trader Joe’s Organic Brown Rice Pasta , $2.99 Trader Joe’s

Not all brown rice pastas are made equal. You know this if you’ve tried different brands and types. Some fall apart or taste awful. This is the best version at the best price (that I’ve seen.) It’s a healthy packaged snack that tastes like regular pasta, holds together in consistency, and cooks in less than 10 minutes. Win-win-win. Great for anyone avoiding white flour or gluten so that their blood sugar doesn’t spike up after eating.

  1.     Wild Planet Wild Sardines in Extra Virgin Olive Oil, $2.49,  Thrive Market

Sardines have lots of protein, healthy fats, and so many vitamins and minerals that most people take supplements to get. This healthy packaged snack is produced in cans that are BPA free, which is very hard to find in canned foods(and one of it’s unhealthy drawbacks.) Store these in your pantry or your fridge and they will last you a long time.
