If you’re focused on developing healthy habits to help you get lean, you might have developed some that seem healthy but that are actually hurting you reach your goals.

Recently, we talked to Greatist about habits that people think are healthy and good for you to do if you want to relax and recharge…. but actually aren’t. Just check out the video below:

And here are some extra tips of “good” habits you think are helping you, but you should actually reconsider.

Being Too Strict Isn’t a Healthy Habit for Getting Lean

1) Having a very strict workout schedule. Working out is a great stress reliever and you might think that being religious about your workout routine will make you calm overall… but being too crazy about making sure you get your workout in will leave you more stressed than necessary. Aim for realistic goals and you’ll be better off in the long run

If you Get Up Too Early, This Might Actually Not Be Healthy

2) Waking up super early to get everything done. This is definitely helpful if you’re able to get your 8 hours of sleep in before that 5 am wake up call. However, if you could only sleep for 4 hours last night you’re better off squeezing in a few extra hours before starting the day. You will actually be able to get your tasks done more efficiently with a rested body and mind than with extra time.

Work Breaks Are Only Healthy is They’re Focused

3) Taking a break from work…. to surf social media or do anything on your phone. If you’re going to take a break, take a complete and total break. Go outside for a walk with a colleague, meditate, or listen to relaxing music. Looking at social media just adds clutter to your mind and clutter does not make you relaxed.

A Healthy Appointment in the Middle of Rush Hour?  Reconsider it

4) Going anywhere relaxing in the middle of rush hour. Yes, you might be going to a massage or the best yoga class ever.. but perhaps you can go there during a less stressful commute time so that you could properly enjoy the experience? Dealing with other commuters is usually not a happy experience and by the time you get to your destination, you’ll be so flustered and annoyed that your scheduled massage will not be enough to relax you!
